Portugal vs France, live scores, updates: Euro 2024 result, Ronaldo and Mbappe fight for semi-final place

The quarter-finals of the 2024 European Championship are just around the corner and there could hardly be a bigger duel than that between Kylian Mbappe's France and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

In what is likely to be the 39-year-old striker's last European Championship, Ronaldo is hoping he can take matters into his own hands and shoot his country into the semi-finals.

His tears of frustration and then relief were clear for all to see as Portugal narrowly beat Slovenia on penalties in the last round. And the Seleção will have to be at their best if they are to end their dismal run of just one win in their last 14 matches against France.

Mbappe himself has not exactly made a splash at Euro 2024, with a broken nose playing a major role, but he will also need to rediscover his scoring ability if France are to reach the semi-finals for the fourth time in the last five major tournaments.

The Sporting News follows the game Portugal vs France live and provides the latest scores, commentary and highlights.

12 minutes: Special performance from Leao, who sets Mendes free with an improvised heel trick. The full-back shoots the cross past everyone. Ronaldo is, as expected, unimpressed.
