Teaser for Brad Pitt film “F1” will be released on Sunday in Silverstone

Brad Pitt's upcoming film about Formula 1 will be released under the title formula 1the sport, Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced.

The film's first teaser will be broadcast on the global F1 feed at Sunday's British Grand Prix – just under 30 minutes before the race at 3pm local time – and will also be shown on large screens around the Silverstone circuit.

The full film will be released worldwide on June 25th next year, with the North American premiere two days later.

formula 1which is created in collaboration with the teams and drivers of the sport, is directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose Top Shooter: Maverick grossed $1.49 billion worldwide, with Jerry Bruckheimer as producer.

Filming on the track for formula 1 took place at various rounds last year – including Silverstone, Budapest and Monza – and continues this weekend at the British Grand Prix.

The production team had a motorhome, a garage and a pit wall at its disposal when filming races under the fictitious 11th team name “APX GP”.

In the film's plot, Pitt, who is 60 years old in real life, plays a former racing driver who makes a comeback to Formula 1 in APX GP alongside Damson Idris, who plays his rookie teammate.

Other cast members include Oscar winner Javier Bardem and Best Supporting Actress nominee Kerry Condon.

Production of the film is scheduled to be completed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the season in December.

The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in cinemas and in IMAX.
