OnePlus Nord 4 design shown from different angles in several leaks ahead of July 16 launch

OnePlus has been balancing performance with practical design for the past few years with its mid-range Nord series in India. While the phone has enough power and performance to offer a smooth software experience, the brand has cut corners in some areas like design and cameras to offer it at a reasonable and competitive price. Some of that will change with the next model, currently dubbed the Nord 4. Scheduled to be announced at OnePlus' upcoming global event on July 16, the Nord 4 has been featured in some new leaks that reveal a brand new design for the OnePlus sub-brand.

The most important of the numerous design leaks that have surfaced online is a post by @OnePlusClub on X that shows the phone in all its glory and supposedly in all the color variants the brand plans to launch it in. There's a two-tone mint green, a two-tone silver, and a plain black.

The silver finish also appears to have a textured back with large grooves. The green and black color variants have completely flat backs with beveled corners in front of the flat sides. All three finishes showcase the new design language with a new camera layout. This now features two horizontally aligned cameras with LED flash modules arranged on the same level but with some distance between them.

The same image also shows the presence of the three-level alarm slide switch, confirming that it is still present in Nord's high-end (non-CE) smartphones.

The new leaks (embedded above) and OnePlus' own teasers also hint at the use of metal for the upcoming launches, which will include the Nord 4. Other recently released live images of the same phone clearly show a U-shaped metal unibody chassis that integrates the rear panel and leaves an opening at the top around the cameras.

In fact, it will be very interesting to see what the final smartphone looks like, as it will bring back memories of years gone by when phones often used all-metal designs (despite reception issues), which stood for “premium quality”. As a side note, the OnePlus Nord 4 shown in these images reminds us of the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 3 series (launched between 2017 and 2018).

The OnePlus Nord 4 is said to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, according to an earlier report. The device could feature a 6.74-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is said to have a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, while a 16-megapixel camera will be responsible for selfies. The device is said to be powered by a 5,500mAh battery and will likely support 100W wired fast charging.
