AI, the future of music videos?

As indie musician Siddhant Goenka grew up, he was introduced to legends like Hemant Kumar and Jagjit Singh. This laid the foundation for his first performances. Western legacy bands Scorpions, The Eagles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana and Metallica further influenced his music. Over time, the artist developed a varied taste comprising of countless different trends and genres of music and produced several singles. His previous projects like Jazbaat and Pari have amassed hundreds of thousands of streams online.

Keeping that spirit going, the musician has now produced a pop-rock track that he describes as a rollercoaster of emotions. Alvida is an intense track that Siddhant and Pratham Sheth worked on the score. The track also has a music video that was created entirely using AI tools. We speak to Siddhant to know more about the song and the future of AI and art. Excerpts from a conversation:

What emotions are associated with the story presented in “Alvida”?

The music video is an emotional journey into the soul of a musician who is overwhelmed by fear, anger and pain. He is standing in the middle of a world on the brink of the apocalypse, where nothing is left untouched and everything around him is decaying. In the midst of this desolation, the wild musician screams at the top of his lungs, a raw, powerful expression of his emotions.

You used artificial intelligence in the music video for the song. Do you think this is the future of art and creativity?

AI may be the spark that ignites the creative fire, but it's the human touch that fans the flames. While AI tools can be amazing helpers and help artists bring their visions to life, they can't replace the magic of the human imagination. It's the artist's unique experiences, emotions, and careful input that make the creative process truly special. AI can enhance and refine, but it's the human element that gives art authenticity and soul.

Did the results of the AI generator meet your expectations?

Honestly, using AI felt like a delicate dance between triumphs and pains, with each misstep refining my vision. I envision a compelling narrative that calls for me to bring it to life. It's really about the harmony between what's on the screen and what you hear. The visuals need to sync with the music, enhancing the emotion and essence of the song.
