Samsung Galaxy Buds3 retail box leaked, new stem-style design confirmed

Samsung's Galaxy Buds lineup launched in 2019, as the company recently reminded us ahead of its July 10 Unpacked event where it plans to unveil the Galaxy Buds3. And in those five years, no model has used a stem design.

That's all set to change next week, though, as the Galaxy Buds3 are actually the first Galaxy Buds with a stem. This information was leaked earlier, and today a picture of the retail packaging confirms the move.

Of course, many people will complain that Samsung is “copying Apple” here, but there are probably hundreds of other companies that have released true wireless, stem-style earbuds in the last few years. Samsung is just the latest company to adopt this design, and maybe that's for the best?

Aside from the Galaxy Buds+, which launched in 2020 (and don't even have ANC), all of Samsung's earbuds have had pretty mediocre mic performance, to put it nicely. So we're hoping that the switch to headbands, as this design brings the mics closer to your mouth, could finally lead to a new pair of Galaxy Buds with excellent mic performance.

Of course, the Buds3 will feature ANC, and although Apple “invented” the stem-style earbud, the stems on Samsung's upcoming Buds feature a very angular design that is (perhaps intentionally) quite different from Apple's.
