Girls golf: Bowen and Sticha share MVP awards for Alexandria – Alexandria Echo Press

ALEXANDRIA – The Alexandria girls golf team had a standout year in 2024. The Cardinals finished second in the Central Lakes Conference, won the Section 8AAA team title and placed fourth at the MSHSL State Tournament.

Alexandria's strong season was led by Ellie Sticha and Rachel Bowen, who finished as the team's co-MVPs.

Sticha placed 20th at the state meet, third at the Central Lakes Conference Championship and sixth at the Section 8AAA meet. Bowen placed 54th at the state meet, eighth at the conference meet and third at the Section 8AAA meet.

Cadence Simon and Grace Herzog also made the All-Conference team. Herzog placed 11th at the CLC meet while Simon placed 12th.

Lexi Metcalf received an honorable mention in the all-conference with a 19th place finish.

Herzog and Bowen were Alexandria's captains in 2024 and helped the team finish as one of the best teams in the state.

Metcalf and Herzog were named to the conference and all-state academic teams.

Metcalf also won the team's coach award, while Aspen Schoenrock was named the team's most improved player.

In addition to Sticha and Bowen, Alexandria brings a ton of experience from this year's state championships, as Simon, who placed 43rd at the state championships, and Srock, who placed 82nd at the state championships, will be back next season.
