Patsy Kensit confirmed for Death in Paradise 2023 Christmas special

Paty Kensit and Doon Mackichan have been confirmed as guest stars in this year's Christmas special “Death in Paradise”.

In addition to the EastEnders star, several other one-off new additions to the program will include Youssef Kerkour, Geoff Bell, Bronagh Waugh, Amelia Clarkson, Freddy Carter and Leila Khan.

These guest stars will join the regular cast of Ralf Little (DI Neville Parker), Don Warrington (Commissioner Selwyn Patterson), Shantol Jackson (DS Naomi Thomas), Tahj Miles (Officer Marlon Pryce), Ginny Holder (Police in training Darlene Curtis) and Elizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey) in a celebratory episode of the crime drama set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie.

In the special, DI Parker, DS Thomas, Officer Pryce and trainee Officer Curtis try to solve the mysterious death of Gerry Stableforth (Geoff), while his wife Bella (Patsy) and his children Benjamin (Freddy), Mariana (Amelia) and niece Riley (Leila) struggle to cope with the horrific situation.

Although Patsy enjoyed working on the show, after filming ended she was no longer able to keep up with her Death in Paradise co-stars.

She recently told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “At my age, I don't socialise anymore as I'm usually in bed by 9pm.”

“In the show I just finished [‘Death in Paradise’] They went to the bar and I said, “I can't. I have to be in bed by 8 p.m.”

“I have to wash my face because it's so wet. And I have to get up at 4 a.m.”

“In the end, they didn't even ask me out. The thought of going to a bar or looking for love… but these things happen when you least expect them. I was on a blind date, so here we go. I use the word companionship.

“I don't rule out the intimate side of things, but relationships are different at this age and that's good and OK. You have to be hopeful and grateful.”

Every season of Death in Paradise is currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
