Live updates on the Indian cricket team’s victory celebration in the T20 World Cup: The Indian cricket team has landed in Mumbai after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi early Thursday morning following their arrival in New Delhi from Barbados after winning the T20 World Cup. The players were given a warm welcome at the IGI airport, the team hotel and en route.

The Indian team has a busy schedule today: after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there will be a BCCI felicitation event at Wankhede Stadium and also an open-top bus trophy tour of Mumbai. Entry to the felicitation event at Wankhede Stadium is free for fans of the Indian team but it is on a first-come, first-served basis. Gates to Wankhede Stadium will be open from 4 pm. The Indian team was stranded in Barbados due to a hurricane but was flown out of the West Indies on a specially arranged charter flight. The Indian team flew from Barbados to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on an Air India flight AIC24WC – Air India Champions 24 World Cup – which departed at around 4:50 am local time on Wednesday and arrived in Delhi at 6:00 am IST on Thursday after a 16-hour non-stop flight. The Indian team defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final in Bridgetown on Saturday last week.
